MOON LETTERS : POETRY
The Elves of Lothlorien - by Sara Shreve

Listen — we greet the dawn of day
With songs of ancient craft and dream.
Our words and rhymes are intertwined
With the living music of crystal streams.
In winter wind and springtime rain
Our souls are lit with summer’s sheen;
And in the autumn, nature’s grace
Brings us gold exchanged for green.

For countless years we’ve walked in dales
Yet to weary of the sights
And sounds of our immortal task:
The guardianship of moonlit nights;
The stewardship of fertile days
Whose buds once blown perfume the air.
Such are the things within our keep
Of origin pure and beauty fair.

Thus listen as we greet the dawn
With songs of ancient craft and dream.
Our hearts we bind, our souls we tie
To the melodies of crystal streams.
